Check list for Completing and Submitting an Academic Review

  • By April 1, the Assessment Coordinator sends the program area a reminder about the upcoming program assessment.
  • By May 1, the Assessment Coordinator and Associate Vice President for Instruction meet with the Division Chair to review the program process.
  • By August 30, programs are expected to have a review process in place that includes:
    • Identify the faculty members who will work on the review
    • Develop a calendar to ensure that the review is completed on schedule and submitted to the Assessment Coordinator and Assessment Committee
    • Identify what information is required and how to obtain it
    • Complete the necessary paperwork
  • By the end of the fall semester, obtain and analyze information and draft the program assessment report.
  • In December, send the program assessment report and any other appropriate materials to the Assessment Coordinator.
  • In January, the Academic Assessment committee will review the report.
  • In February, a response to the assessment report will be forwarded to the appropriate vice presidents and division chairs for response.
  • In March, a final assessment report will be publicized.

Assessment results and information should be used in a timely manner to facilitate continuous programmatic improvements. Designing a feedback process is essential in all assessment plans because it gives faculty the opportunity to use recent findings to incorporate curricular changes necessary to prepare tudents with the skills and knowledge to advance. Program assessment results should be incorporated into annual division reports. Information from each division should become a vital part of college-wide decision-making and should be used in strategic planning.
