Practical Nursing Program Scholarship Recipients

The NPCC Practical Nurse Division has recently awarded $2,700 in scholarships to students in the 2009/2010 class. Scholarships and recipients are as follows:

Diana’s Dollars Scholarship – Ligia Cernat
Christ of the Hills United Methodist Church Scholarship – Aubrie Farmer, Ronnie Green,  and Tynisha Hudson
Practical Nurse Scholarship – LyTanyoun Wallace
Elizabeth Wagner Scholarship – Brian Jennings, Donna Niles, Lisa Shadrick, and  Jason Fryar

The National Park Community College Practical Nurse Program consists of two programs. The day program takes 12 months to complete and accepts 35 students each year. The evening program requires two years to finish and accepts 15 students into each class. Plans to expand the number of admissions are underway.

Applicants must apply by March 1 each year to be considered for the program.

The Practical Nurse program began in July 1957 with the first nursing class accepted in October of that year. October 2009 will mark 52 years of educating nurses.

Tamara Abernathy, PN Program Director, said, “We are proud of our heritage and honored to have so many LPNs in the Hot Springs area that are graduates of this program.”
