The 30-credit hour Banking/Finance Technical Certificate prepares students new to the banking industry for entry-level positions. Personnel currently employed in the banking field will receive additional skills to become supervisors or managers in the bank operations area. Required Banking Courses:
Required General Courses:
BANK 1113 Principles of Banking This course covers the banking industry, from the fundamentals of negotiable instruments to contemporary issues and developments within the industry. BANK 1123 Basic Customer Service This course covers the basic skill development in building customer relationships and selling bank products to customers. BANK 1133 Business and Management This course covers the basic functions of banking including roles, skills, and knowledge bases that will prepare tellers to interact with customers, complete processing and settlement transactions, and follow compliance and security procedures that protect the bank, its employees, and its customers. BANK 1213 Money and Banking This course presents a fundamental treatment of how money functions including how the various types of financial institutions operate, the workings of monetary and fiscal policies, and the functions and powers of the Federal Reserve. BANK 1413 Legal Applications for Banking This course covers the laws that apply to banking/finance representatives and customer service representatives in financial institutions. Topics include secured transactions, privacy, deposits, accounting, letters of credit, and the bank collection process. View a listing of all Business Division Programs.
