Description of Programs To apply to NPCC's Health Sciences program, you can submit an application via email or U.S. Postal Service. Applications are now being accepted for the Health Information Technology program. Applications are accepted from October 15 until November 30 for spring admission. Faculty will demonstrate current knowledge, skills, qualifications, and professional development in the content areas they teach. (required) 2. Program graduates will demonstrate the HIM entry-level competencies. (required) 3. The HIM curriculum will include, at minimum, the required knowledge clusters with content and experiences to enable students to meet current entry-level competencies. (required) 4. The HIM program will demonstrate responsiveness to the needs of the community (ies) of interest. (required) Health Information Technology (A.A.S.) (66 SSCH) A health information technician performs a variety of functions including: organizing, analyzing and technically evaluating health information; compiling various administrative and health statistics; and coding diseases, operations, procedures and other therapies. They also maintain and use a variety of health information indexes, special registries and storage and retrieval systems; input and retrieve computerized health data; and control the use and release of health information. Graduates are eligible to take a national certification examination to become a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).

listing for HIT. PROFESSIONAL MEDICAL CODING (TECHNICAL CERTIFICATE) (35 SSCH) Medical coding is the transformation of verbal descriptions of diseases and procedures into alphanumeric codes. The coding of health-related data permits access to medical records by diagnoses and procedures for use in clinical care research and education. Accurate coding is also required for reimbursement from Medicare and other insurance plans. Graduates are eligible to take the national certification exam to be a Certified Coding Associate.

HIT PRO EXAM INFORMATION The Health IT Program offered at National Park Community College in Hot Springs, Arkansas is the only college in Arkansas to offer this ONC commissioned curriculum funded by the ARRA 2009 Grant. We are providing the workforce training for professionals with a background in healthcare or IT. By using the link below, the HIT Pro Exam information can be reviewed.
