The College and the Community National Park Community College is located in Hot Springs AR, a beautiful resort community of over 50,000 approximately 45 minutes southwest of Little Rock . The local economy centers on tourism, manufacturing, retirement living, and medical sciences. Tourism attractions include the thermal waters of the National Park, hiking trails, horse racing at Oaklawn Park, five nearby lakes, outstanding golf courses, and a thriving art community. The fourth largest community college in the state, NPCC enrolls approximately 3,000 credit students each semester in both associate degree and certificate programs. |

National Park Community College invites applications and nominations for the position of Library Director. We are seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking director who is capable of sustaining and expanding the excellence of the National Park Community College Library. The NPCC Library contains 27,827 print volumes and provides electronic access to 19 full text databases. The library is a member of AMIGOS, the Arkansas State Library TRAVELER project and the ARKLink Library Consortium offering reciprocal borrowing with 47 college and university libraries in Arkansas. This is a 12-month staff appointment that reports to the Executive Vice President for Instruction. Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to: overseeing all aspects of library services including collection development, cataloging and processing, circulation, electronic resources, reference and instruction, and associated services that support the mission of the library; supervising one librarian, four full time support staff and four student assistants; and being a strong and articulate advocate for the library programs and staff and persuasively representing the library to the administration, faculty, students, external clientele, and the broader educational community. The successful candidate will, among other qualifications, hold a master’s degree in Library Science and/or Information Science from an ALA-accredited program; have a minimum of five years of increasing administrative experience at the department head level or above in an academic library, preferably in a community college; have a record of active participation in professional organizations associated with the library; and have a thorough knowledge of and experience with emerging technologies and their impact on all aspects of the library. National Park Community College is seeking a full-time instructor for a vacancy in the Math and Science Department. This is a full time, nine-month position, beginning in August 2008. Duties include teaching day, evening, and/or Saturday classes and participating in professional development and campus governance activities. Qualified individuals will have a Master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in their teaching field or a related field. Community college teaching experience is preferred. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a commitment to student learning, retention, and student success; assessment of student learning; curriculum development; technology in the classroom; and have experience or interest in teaching some courses online. Instructors to teach a broad range of math classes from basic math to calculus. Instructors may report to the Math and Science Division or the Learning acceleration Division depending on background and experience. Instructor to plan, evaluate, and coordinate activity classes within the Health Science Division. Additional responsibilities include conducting health and wellness education, physical education, recreational, leisure activities, and conducting recreational leadership classes. Applicant should also have the ability to coordinate intramural sports/activities and perform related duties as required.
