Learning Acceleration Division

In support of National Park College's education mission, the Learning Acceleration Division offers a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for the campus community by:

The Learning Acceleration Division offers both academic preparatory and vocational coursework.  Courses within the division are designed to serve as bridges to college achievement, career specialties, and employment success.  Class offerings, explanations, and prerequisite requirements are, of course, subject to change in the event that the vice president for instruction, NPC faculty, or Learning Acceleration Division find such change to be required in the pursuit of either the NPC mission or the LAD mission.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Learning Acceleration Division is to prepare students for entry into the core curriculum through the development of cognitive, affective, and behavioral skills.


Upon enrolling at NPC, students may be asked to schedule one or more LAD classes.  These classes help the student refresh his or her academic skills before enrollment in college level courses.  A student must earn a minimum "C" (70% average) in an LAD class to advance into college level studies.

A student enrolled in an LAD class will receive a comprehensive review of college preparatory materials in reading, writing, math, and study skills.

Grades in LAD classes count in the grade point average (GPA) calculation. NPC awards institutioinal credit for pre-college level classes so they may be counted for financial aid or veteran's benefits purposes.  However, LAD classes may not be used toward any college certificate or associate degree, not even as an elective.
