How long may a book be checked out?

Books are checked out for 3 weeks; more than one renewal is at the discretion of the Librarian.

What happens when a book is overdue?

A book becomes overdue if the borrower does not return the book by its due date. A student will not be able to register in any classes or have transcripts mailed until the book is returned or paid for ($35 + $5).

What happens if a book is lost?

If a book is lost, please inform the Library as soon as possible. You will be required to pay for the book ($35 + $5). Transcripts and registration will be delayed until fees have been paid.

What type of cataloging system does the Library use?

The Library uses the Library of Congress Cataloging System.

May videos be checked out?

Videos may not be checked out. The Library has viewing rooms available for viewing videos from its collection. The Library has a wide variety of video tapes. A complete list of videos available may be obtained from the circulation desk. (They are also listed by title in OPAC.)

Where are the Reserved Materials located?

Reserved materials are located behind the circulation desk. Instructors will reserve materials when they wish the entire class to read, copy, or view pertinent information. To view reserved material, ask at the Circulation Desk.

Where are the Reference Materials located?

The Reference Section is located in the front of the Circulation Desk on the lower shelves. Reference Books are identified by REF and a red or purple dot on the book and the words "Reference Only" stamped inside. Reference materials may not be checked out, they are for in Library use only.

May periodicals be checked out?

Periodicals and Journals may not be checked out, they are for in Library use only. You may make copies of articles at a cost of 10 cents per page, or you may print full-text articles from the Info-Trac CD-Rom Index for 10 cents per page.

What Newspapers are available?

The Library subscribes to the following newspapers: Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, The Sentinel Record, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Christian Science Monitor, USA Today, and the Washington Post National Weekly. The Library keeps back issues for 2-weeks, with the exception of The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and The New York Times which are both kept until a microfilm version is received.

Is there a cost for using the Internet or any restrictions regarding the use of the Internet?

There is no cost for using the Internet, however priority will be given to students working on class assignments. There is a time limit of 30 minutes when other students are waiting. When using the Internet, keep in mind that privacy is not available and certain materials may be offensive to others. We also ask that set-up and configurations not be changed. Doing so will result in the loss of computer privileges.

Are there computers available for word processing?

The computers are available for word processing so long as they are not needed for Internet use.
