SGA Officer Training
The newly elected SGA officer team attended the annual Officer Training Retreat in Norman, Arkansas on June 22-23, 2012. Advisors, Sue Burris and Melony Ritter, organized the event to help orient the student leaders in their new roles.
This year's agenda included leadership and team building exercises, communication styles, parliamentary procedures training, and planning activities for the year. Attending the event were SGA President, Lee Walden; SGA Vice President, Matt Chaput; SGA Secretary, Angelina Henry; SGA At-Large Representatives, Marci Fortanelli and Sandra Rogers.
SGA President, Lee Walden shared:
"The SGA Officers' Retreat was not only an extremely productive opportunity to prepare for the upcoming year's business but also proved exceptionally developmental. We were able together to ink a budget, calendar of events, agenda for the first Student Assembly, and Requisition for Funding for student organizations to petition SGA. Bringing the team together by exploring our different personality types, improving our listening skills, discovering effective conflict/conflagration resolution, and sharing ourselves was certainly beneficial to creating a respectful, high functioning group. We look forward to a challenging year of growth as we bring the students' government to them, increasing awareness of the benefits of lending amplification to their voice on campus while improving their experience in every way possible. We welcome all to participate in making the National Park College experience one of success, fun, and growth. We offer an open invitation to the NPC family to join us as we serve, empower, and engage students this year!"
The SGA board members concluded the retreat by calling a special meeting to approve the proposed budget and calendar for the 2012-2013 academic year.
